Course outline

Migraine affects around 4 to 10% of children (National Migraine Centre), often involving slightly different symptoms to adult migraine. Migraine can impact academics, relationships and other activities, particularly when undiagnosed or mistreated.

For schools, this is a lot to consider! This webinar, delivered by a senior clinician from the National Migraine Centre, a specialist migraine clinic, will support delegates through understanding migraine, how it presents in children and what treatments and adjustments are available.

The session will also cover adaptations schools may consider as workplaces for any staff who suffer with migraine.

Training topics will include:

  • What is migraine?

  • How migraine presents in childhood and adolescence

  • Medicines, lifestyle, and non-drug treatments

  • What schools can do to support

  • Staff migraine and workplace adaptations.

Learning outcomes:

  • Improved and greater knowledge of migraine

  • Greater understanding and awareness of treatment options and support strategies

  • Consideration of beneficial reasonable adjustments in an education setting.
